Shoshoni Schools

Hello Wrangler Fans, Due to poor weather conditions in other parts of the state, we unexpectedly had the opportunity to host back-to-back track meets of considerable size! Friday featured 25 schools (and the 1st ever Montana team attending), and over 600 athletes competing in 1600+ events. Saturday saw a repeat of Friday with 19 schools, over 600 more athletes competing in 2,038 events. 79 High School athletes met pre-qualification marks to be automatically entered in the State Track Meet, and 130 JH/Y athletes met pre-qualification marks to compete in the Best of the Best Meet. This would not have been possible without the help of a long list of people!! The HS track athletes worked field events and moved hurdles both days, the HS and JH/Y track coaches ran field events, we had staff members step up to run events, Drew Peregoy and Braxton Mills worked the computerized timing system, Coach Rambo organized athletes as Clerk and Mrs. Metzler kept them in order at the finish line. Misty Steffen and the SRD put on a great spread in the hospitality room and Shawn Steffen was the golden voice of the meet! Thank you to everyone who helped make these meets run smoothly!! Hello Wrangler Fans, We are doing the secondary WyTOPP testing a little differently this year. Instead of testing as a class on the same day, students will test when their class period falls first thing in the morning on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday over the next three weeks. This week's events follow: Monday, April 15: G day (periods 3-7) School Board Meeting 5:30pm Tuesday, April 16: A day (periods 1-5) WyTOPP Testing: 10th Science, 8th Science, 10 Math, 9th Math, 9th ELA Wednesday, April 17: B day (periods 6-3) no events Thursday, April 18: C day (periods 4-1) WyTOPP Testing: 10th Science, 8th Science, 7th Math, Friday, April 19: Staff PD Day, No School for Pre K-12th grade Students HS track HOME at 10am We need someone for the National Anthem, at least 3 people for each jumping pit (2 to rake and 1 to mark), 2 people to put the bar up for high jump, 2 people to put the bar up for pole vault, and 3 people for each throwing event (1 to mark, 2 to return throwing implements) Unified Sports track @ Cody Saturday, April 20: JH/Y track HOME at 10am We need someone for the National Anthem, and 1 adult to run Discus Have a great week, and GO WRANGLERS!!!

Today was Work Together Wednesday. PreK, TK, and Kindergarten worked together to build and create. Kindergartners worked on making an inventory of math objects. At the end of the day we got to celebrate with one of our favorite ways to work together. TK, Kindergarten, and First Grade met in the hall to form groups and practice their awesome reading!

Yesterday, 26 of our junior high and high school students participated in the 68th Annual Wyoming State Math Competition at CWC. Alex Brown, Luke Cash, Wyatt Eadus, Abrianna Kiser, and Michael Wilczewski placed in the top 12 in their respective divisions.

Today was another fun day celebrating Week of the Young Child. We celebrated our learning with Tasty Tuesday. We talked about different words we can use to describe foods like sweet or salty. We also used words like crunchy and chewy to describe foods. We listened to a Chef song, made a tasty trail mix and talked about different food groups. We also talked about how we can learn about math through cooking. We practiced our writing today as well. We wrote recipes for our favorite food while enjoying our trail mix. Hello Wrangler Fans, In true Wyoming Spring fashion, the track teams competed in warm temperatures and sunshine right before we were hit with a snow storm! We will attempt the same this week with the HS competing at Lander on Tuesday and going to Big Piney on Friday while the JH/Y team will stay in Fremont Co. this week at Wind River on Friday and Riverton on Saturday. Our FFA team is headed to Cheyenne for the State Convention where the teams compete to be a State Champion and a chance to attend nationals in the fall. The Shoshoni Hot Summer Nights 3 v 3 basketball tournament is coming up in June and I have attached the flyer for further information.
