We are in the process of developing the calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. There are two possible calendars. Both calendars complete before Memorial day, start at the same time and have time built in for a snow day. The big difference in the two is that Option B has a shorter Christmas break but adds a week long spring break. We would like your input by voting on one of the two calendars. The voting will close on February 10th. Here is the link to cast your vote on the 2021-22 calendar: https://forms.gle/VqxBYEA2SE2jcu6B7

Wrangler Community,
On Jan. 18, several of our students were involved in a car accident that resulted in three being life-flighted to Salt Lake City with serious injuries. At this time, we are seeking donations to offset family expenses during their stay in UT.
We have set-up an account in PayPal with all proceeds to go directly to the family. We once again thank you for your generosity and support for one of our own Wrangler Families. We are truly blessed to live in a community that continually supports its members.

Parents of Fremont County School District #24:
Shoshoni Schools were recently notified of a positive Coronavirus case in our High School.
The Fremont County Health Office is currently working through their contact tracing to determine if there is any further exposure in our schools. The school is being deep cleaned in necessary areas to further mitigate and minimize the opportunity of the spread of COVID-19.
If your child was in contact with the positively tested individual, Fremont County Health and/or the school will be in contact with you regarding contact tracing and if there is a need to quarantine your student.
We remain diligent in working through these unfortunate events and ask for your help in keeping our kids safe by following the CDC guidelines.
Thank you for all that you do!

Attention Wrangler Fans!
The Shoshoni High School Student Council has started an apparel fundraiser through FanCloth! If you're in need of some SHS gear (t-shirts, hoodies, blankets for FB games, camping chairs, shorts, athletic gear, hats, you name it!), please consider buying from StuCo's fundraiser! Not only will you get some great gear, but you'll also be supporting the Student Council! Most of our items can even be customized with your or your student's names and jersey numbers!
If you do purchase from our FanCloth shop, you will be asked to choose which StuCo member will receive the credit for your items (the students earn prizes based on how many items they sell!). In order to give your StuCo member credit, you just need to select their name from the drop down menu! If the StuCo member that you want to give credit to is not on the drop down menu yet, you just need to type their name into that same box, and they will be added.

Take a drive by the stadium during that time and honk to show your support. Please remember to stay in your vehicle to adhere to social distancing protocol. Why the exact time? 20:20 for 20 minutes for the class of 2020.
Please feel free to share photos with the hashtag #BeTheLightWY

Thank you to Robin Cogan for sharing this to push out to our Wrangler Students!
Axel Scheffler has illustrated a digital book designed for elementary school-age children, free for anyone to read on-screen or print out, about the coronavirus and the measures taken to control it. Published by Nosy Crow, and written by staff within the company, the book has had expert input: Professor Graham Medley of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine acted as a consultant, and the company also had advice from two headteachers and a child psychologist.

Wrangler families, please take a minute to share this with your children!! Our elementary staff has put together some video messages while we are apart; we are missing our kids terribly! Give them an extra hug for us! We cannot wait to "see" them on our Google Meets this week.

A HUGE shout-out to all of our Wrangler families! You are doing a tremendous job supporting your children during this time away from school. We cannot possibly appreciate your partnership enough! We know these are difficult times for many families. Please continue to communicate and reach out to teachers and the administration as needs arise so we can best support your family; we are here for you!! #wearewranglers #wranglerfamily

Fremont County School District #24 Families:
This afternoon the Governor extended the Statewide Public Health Orders through April 17th. The public health order https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WYGOV/bulletins/2839933 means that our school buildings will remain closed. Last night at the Fremont CSD#24 Board meeting the Board took action to “Approve moving to an adaptive learning environment until such time as it is deemed safe by county health officials and state government officials for schools to reopen”
As you are aware our administration, teachers, and staff have been working diligently to ensure the educational needs of our Wrangler students are being met. Yesterday, school districts across the state were notified that they will be required to submit an “Adaptive Learning Plan” to the Department of Education for approval. I am happy to say that our plan has already been approved due to the hard that our folks have already been doing. Starting on Monday, April 6th, students will be required to attend classes virtually and will begin a new chapter in educating our Wrangler students.
I am extremely confident in our staff to meet these challenging educational opportunities as we move forward. They have already been working with students over the last week and one half, figuring things out and working out the bugs in delivering education through a new means. Our delivery system will be a process that continually evolves as our staff learns the nuances and ins and outs of our new way of educating students. I ask that you please communicate with them and show compassion as we work through this together.
Our building principals and special education director have already placed plans and documentation on our school website. The “NEWS” section of our website will continue to be a location where you can find updated information on the adaptive learning plan.
As always, safety is our primary concern. Thank you for your support as our district works to ensure the health and well being of our entire community. Please refer to the district website, shoshonischools.org for ongoing updates.

School Closure Update
I hope this information finds you all healthy and building those family bonds as the nation works through this current situation.
With the release of the Governor’s Order on Thursday March 20th, 2020, the school district will be required to extend the closure of our schools through April 3rd. Our local School Board will still meet virtually on March 26th at 5:30pm to take action on the Governor’s order and extend the closure through April 3rd.
Our administration team met virtually this morning to further refine our Virtual School Plan so that learning will continue for our students in this time of closure. Our intent is to be able to meet all of the WDE Virtual or Remote Education Rules and Regulations and be at a point on April 6th to be able to offer credit for all classes and continue education for all students virtually.
Our Breakfast/Lunch program will begin on Monday March 23rd. Currently, based upon those that have signed up for the program, we will have 4 delivery routes.
Route 1 - Curbside pickup at the school in Shoshoni
Route 2 - Riverton Route, Stops at the Granary, the Firecracker Stand, and Sutherlands
Route 3 - The Valleys - North Portal, Missouri Valley Rec Center, North Hidden Valley Road

Hello, PreK-12th grade families,
What a unique time we are in. We recognize this is a difficult situation for many families. In light of the school closure, it is of utmost importance to our district for students to have the opportunity for the continuation of learning. The fabulous team at Shoshoni Schools has been working hard to identify meaningful, optional, instructional activities for your child to do while he or she is at home for an extended period of time. Tomorrow, March 17th, the school will be open to provide important learning materials to families, including technology devices to support distance learning. Please plan for one member from your household to pick up materials from 1:00pm-6:00pm, if you choose to participate. Also, please expect that you will be contacted by a district employee via phone to gather more information regarding food and internet needs during this school closure. Plan to get updates through our district website, Facebook page, email, Canvas (Secondary) and Class Dojo (Elementary). We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns along the way.
Thank you,
Shoshoni Administration & Staff

Fremont County School District #24 Families:
I would like to thank the families and staff of FCSD#24 for your support and patience as the impact of the COVID-19 virus begins to impact our community. After consulting with public health officials, and state and local officials, we have decided to close FCSD#24 schools starting Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Schools will remain closed until at least March 27, 2020.
Decisions about reopening will depend on how this situation progresses in the coming weeks. We will communicate with families as soon as we have the necessary information to make future decisions. In the coming days, we will notify families through our website, Facebook, and text notifications.
Please remain vigilant in your prevention efforts by washing hands frequently, covering a cough or sneeze with a sleeve or tissue, and staying home if you are sick. It is incumbent on us all to take these preventative measures to help our community stay healthy, especially those over the age of 60 or with underlying health conditions.
As always, safety is our primary concern. Thank you for your support as our district works to ensure the health and wellbeing of our entire community. Please refer to the district website, shoshonischools.org for ongoing updates.

We recommend you encourage your athletes to stay active and workout on their own during this time period.

Coronavirus Precautions
At Fremont County School District 24, one of our goals is to maintain a learning environment that is safe for all students, faculty, staff and guests. Due to growing concerns about COVID-19, we wanted to share this status update with you.
We live in a global economy and a global society, even here in Fremont County. People travel, now more than ever. The Center for Disease Control and Health organizations are looking out for all of us trying to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus or COVID-19. Health organizations are trying to buy time so that they can further research, develop, test, and manufacture solutions to the new or novel viral strain called Coronavirus. If you would like more information specifically about COVID-19, I would encourage you to reference the Center for Disease Control’s website, www.cdc.gov. The main health concern is that the disease is being spread from person to person and can result in the death of a patient. More cases are expected to be identified in the United States in the coming days and the World Health Organization has declared this to be a pandemic.
Currently, we encourage all students, parents, faculty, staff and guests to take practical steps to minimize potential exposure, in much the same way you would during flu season. This includes minimizing physical contact, washing your hands thoroughly when you do make contact with another person, and staying home when you feel ill. The most common symptoms are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Parents are encouraged to keep their students home from school if they are experiencing these symptoms. Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent coronavirus.
School districts, the Wyoming Department of Education, and the Wyoming Health Department met virtually this afternoon and we will not be closing schools. We will continue to educate ourselves through research, understanding, and best practices. Our main priority is to keep people well and be able to educate our students. When a person in Fremont County has been diagnosed with Covid-19, our district will work with Fremont County Health to determine next steps based upon what information that has been learned in the interim and then decide what needs to happen next.
Thus far, it has been documented that children and young adults have not been impacted by Coronavirus to the extent as those over 50 or with respiratory/immune/diabetic complications. As a school district, we need to look at all of our people and determine the best solution for all of our Wrangler family members.
In light of the current health concerns, we are working to ensure our district is following recommendations from our local, state, and CDC health organizations in minimizing opportunities for the transfer of communicable diseases. Our transportation, cafeteria, janitorial, and instructional staff have been diligently working to make sure our environment continues to be an opportunity to learn, grow, and provide an educational experience.
In response to how we move forward when our district has a confirmed case COVID-19, we will close the school for 72 hours to clean and disinfect. The local health department will interview the confirmed case of COVID-19 to minimize the impact of the spread of COVID-19.. The district will work with Fremont County Health to determine next steps and stakeholders will be informed.
As a Wrangler family, we will work through this. We will separate the wheat from the chaff, and we will make informed decisions in the best interest of our kids and our communities. We ask that you help us in navigating this influx of information and media to determine the best solutions for our Wrangler families. We will provide you with more information as soon as it is available. Thank you for your understanding.

A little friendly competition with our neighbors! Go vote for the WRANGLERS in Round #2!

Parents remember when clearing out your book shelves to make room for new books this Holiday season, the school library will gladly take any books you would like to donate! Our High School library appreciates donations too!

Congratulations to Sara Kassens, 1st grade teacher, for earning her National Board Certification; it is the most respected professional certification for K-12 teachers! This is a HUGE commitment and accomplishment and Mrs. Kassens worked extremely hard to earn this distinction! We are so fortunate to have her knowledge and expertise in our school!! Way to go, Mrs. Kassens!! We got to recognize her last week at our student of the month assembly. She joins two other National Board Certified teachers in our district, Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Engelbrecht.

As the 2nd quarter is coming to an end, the 4th graders have been working so hard, keeping organized, completing makeups and missed work, collaborating on their animal research projects, doing peer tutoring, coming to Wrangler Round-Up, and they sang so beautifully at the Christmas program!! Their teachers treated them to hot chocolate from our school-based coffee shop, Brew Ha Ha, and they invited their first grade friends to join them in the celebration! Keep up the great work 4th grade!

From Mrs. Wallingford:
I wanted to give a big thank you to Mr. Ballou and his students for growing microgreens and sharing with us. We have been putting them on the salad bar. This week we had peas, sunflowers, and salad mix.

Our very first Elementary Family Math Feast was a fantastic success with over 200 meals served!! Thank you to ALL of the families that contributed to our feast, and for those that could join us - it was a neat coming together of our Wrangler family! We greatly appreciate the strong partnerships with our parents and community. Thank you to our student council for serving and to Shoshoni Rec for their contributions!! This may be the first Family Feast, but likely not the last!

This year, Shoshoni School will host a Giving (Angel) Tree.
If you need help providing a little Christmas for your children, please call Nurse Donna at 876-2819 by November 26th to get signed up.
If you would like to provide for a child on our tree, come take a tag (or more) and bring back unwrapped gift(s) with your tag(s) by December 12th. We are also accepting donations of gift wrap, tape and labels.
We are requesting you stay around $20/tag to be fair to families with multiple children.
If you have any questions or need to arrange a special time to come in and get a tag, please call Amber Dye 876-2583. We are available Monday-Thursday 8AM-4PM and Friday 8AM-2PM. Please use the 6-12 Entrance and it will be your first door on the right.

As a reminder, our nightly homework is 15 minutes of reading for every child. Please mark one step for every 15 minutes read. This target steps calendar outlines how many steps your child should have read by the date. You will also see our reading incentives for the school year!! We have a whole lot of fun planned!! Thanks again, families!

Today one of the third grade RTI groups visited Ollivander's Wand Shop. They have been reading Harry Potter and today created their own wand (reading tracker)!

Veteran's Day assembly and free lunch for Veteran's will take place November 13th. Lunch will be at 12:36 pm in the commons followed by an assembly in the Main Gym at 1:15 pm. We encourage all students and staff to wear red, white, and blue to help celebrate the day. Kindergarten would also like to invite Veteran's after the assembly for a paired reading with dessert and coffee to demonstrate their growth of reading skills. Thank you!

Families, we'd love your help! If you have any children's board games (ages 3-12) that you no longer use that are in good to excellent condition, with all the necessary pieces, we'd love to take them off of your hands. Our hope is to build a collection of board games that can be used for celebratory purposes! Thank you for any donations; it is greatly appreciated!

What a day it was to be in 4th grade STEAM class!! After several weeks of learning about the human senses, the students earned a reward of their choice. With a landslide vote, having a class dissection won! Students were able to connect their learning with a fun, hands-on experience by fully dissecting and exploring the anatomy of a cow eye, to further their understanding.
A VERY special thank you to, Mrs. Marshall, Dr. Vasco, Mr. Schaefer, and Mrs. Rodriguez, who joined our classroom to help with this project!!
As always, it’s a GREAT day to be a Wrangler!!!

Shoshoni technology students recently attended and competed in a software development conference hosted by the University of Wyoming called the WyoHackathon. Wyoming legislators have passed laws that give better legal clarity to businesses engaged in digital currency and the innovative technologies behind these new systems. As a result of friendly and practical law, innovative industry is coming to Wyoming. At the 2019 WyoHackathon event Shoshoni students showed they have what it takes to participate in a highly competitive industry such as blockchain and financial technology.
In spite of competing against some of the top developers in the world Shoshoni came home with the following awards:
John Pierre took first place in the GREEN Challenge
Mercedes Daniels, Chase Brown, Hannah Ivie, Cammie Cornell, Trevan Fullmer took 3rd place in the D’CENT Biometric Wallet Video Contest
Kiana Swann, Abby Ballard, Cammie Cornell, Hanna Ivie, James Langlois, Trevan Fullmer took 3rd place in the GREEN Challenge
Tony Olson and Jesse Smith took 4th place in the “Best for Wyoming” Challenge
Sara Jarvis and Coulter Neale were extremely helpful and contributed greatly to our student success at this event.

Hello my fellow Wrangler family and friends! What a privilege it is to be back at our tremendous school and community! In 2013 I graduated from SHS after attending my entire K-12th grade experiences within the old school building walls. Since then, I married my loving husband and most recently graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.A. in Elementary Education and two B.S. in Earth System Sciences and Environmental & Natural Resources. It is an honor to be serving as our schools K-6th grade STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) teacher. This has been a long time coming dream that has come to fruition, and I couldn’t be more pleased! I truly feel blessed to be serving our community who vested SO much into my academic and personal life- Thank you!! I look forward to meeting, learning, and growing with you all! Go Wranglers!!! :) Sarah Jarvis

The buses will be running 5 minutes earlier than last year. Please be at your stop 5 minutes before the pick up time. THANKS!!!
-Shoshoni Transportation Department

My name is Coulter Neale. My wife, Rykki and I have two kids, Rhiannon and Zeke. My wife and I grew up here in Shoshoni and we are excited to be back. We have been in La Barge and Big Piney for the last 6 years where I taught choir. I am looking forward to teaching music and building a strong music program here.

As we continue to update our new website, we will keep you updated. On the website, through a browser on your phone or desktop (not the app), there is now an option under Menu:School Info to see the school events calendar in a calendar view and not a list. We have also added a page under Quick Links:Community for the Shoshoni Recreation District. Go check out their upcoming activities and get signed up!

Please help us welcome Mrs. Peregoy!
My name is April Peregoy and I am the new Special Education Administrative Assistant. Many of you may already know me through my husband, Drew. The Shoshoni school and community has been very good to us over the past 10 years that my husband has been teaching here, and I am so excited to now be more involved in it as well!
I grew up in Big Piney (good ol' Icebox of the Nation), which is a great place to grow up; not just because of the wonderful people who live there, but because it forces you to be tough in order to survive the winters. I attended CWC in Riverton (where Drew and I met) and obtained my BA in History from Chadron State College. I also have an MAS in Library & Information Science. Drew and I have been living in Fremont County for 10 years now. My most recent job was at the Wyoming Livestock Board, working as the administrative assistant to the Wyoming State Veterinarian. I am currently president of the Wyoming Chapter of ARMA International and vice-president of the Fremont County Group Homes.
Drew and I have 4 furry, four-legged kids: 2 Jack Russell terriers, a Boston terrier, and a cat. Besides animals, I also love music. I have been in choirs all my life, and I am currently in the CWC Collegiate Chorale and learning how to play bass guitar and piano. I enjoy traveling, reading a good book, golfing, and spending time in the mountains or at the lake.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming school year and getting to know all of you better!

Please help us welcome Mr. Wood!
I would first like to thank School District #24 for the opportunity to teach! To be able to teach and coach has been a dream of mine since I was in Middle School. It is the only thing I can see myself doing in life! I had an amazing experience being taught and I want to give every student in the community the same opportunity.
My family and I are extremely excited to join the community and look forward to getting to know everyone. I have resided in Basin, Wy for the past 23 years where I graduated from Riverside Highschool. I will be teaching 7th-12th grade Physical Education. I will also be one of the assistant coaches for high school football and high school boys basketball! I hope to make an impact on each and every student, help students believe in themselves and help them reach goals so they can become productive members of society after their schooling.
I received my B.S. degree in December of 2017, and I am currently working on getting my Adapted Physical Education endorsement. During my time at college, I also got the opportunity to throw for the track team at the University of Wyoming. I also did a short stint playing football at Black Hills State University. I graduated high school in 08’ and took a break to make some money so I could continue my education and reach my goal of becoming a teacher and a coach. It is hard to even put into words how excited I am to begin this journey!
In my spare time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, and spending time with my family. My wife is currently a Medical Assistant but soon to be a stay at home mom. I have two amazing boys ages 6 and 1. The oldest will be attending Kindergarten in Shoshoni. I am extremely excited to get to know as many people as possible and want to thank everyone for the opportunity to be a part of the community. If you have any questions please feel free to stop by my office and talk or say hello anytime! I am excited to now call myself a Wrangler! Go Wranglers!
Thanks,
Toby Wood
