System Requirements Windows 98 or higher for PC's and MAC 6.0. Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher or Netscape. General Information When you begin, you should go to the Tutorial page. There are two major sections of the tutorial. The first section is labeled "Overview"; the second section is labeled "Advanced Topics." The "Tutorial" page starts with the page numbers on the left side and all subsequent page number links will be on the right side of the pages. The pages are designed to be observed sequentially from page one to page eighteen. There are two quizzes included in this tutorial. One is located at the end of the "Overview" section and the other is located at the end of the "Advanced Topics" section. A quiz taking aid is available for you to when it is time to take the quiz. Quiz taking aidWhen you get to the site, look at the top of the page and you will see the "student" tab to click. You will then see a student register page that welcomes you to Quizstar. In the green circular login section for your user name, enter "peer1" and for your password, enter "quiz1" and click on submit. Please notice that this is typed lower case. A welcoming message will display, scroll down and observe the colored text "Untaken quizzes" with a number in front of it. Click on the untaken quizzes" with a number in front of it. Click on the untaken quizzes box. Peer Coaching quizzes page is displayed with the quizzes listed. A yellow highlighted box will be over Peer Coaching Part One and Peer Coaching Part Two quizzes. Look to the right and you will see a pencil and paper with the word "take" next to it. Click on the particular quiz you want to take please. Please note that the quizzes may not be in order. Quiz two may be listed before quiz one. You will get a start quiz confirmation. On the right side of the screen, two paragraphs down, will be your choice to start the quiz or cancel. Click on your choice. The next page lists instructions/directions from the instructor about the quiz. Once again, you have to click the start quiz button to begin. Answer the questions and click "next page" to continue or finish. When you finish a page will appear and give you the option to change your answers before submitting the quiz. Click on submit quiz when ready. A summary page shows three options: you can return to the class's page, review your quiz, or logout. Whatever your choice is, you must eventually logout of the quiz and click on the upper right corner "X" to close the page and return to the tutorial. Pages 15 and 16 include three audio conversations that are designed as an example of how a typical conversation could go between two teachers. One teacher is playing the role of the more advanced teacher and the other teacher is playing the role of a fairly new teacher. An audio listening aid is also available for you to use when it is time to listen to the conversations. Audio listening aidUse this aid when you get to pages 15 and 16 in the web site. The text will be colored red and reads "Play conversation one", "Play conversation two", or "Play conversation three." Click on the appropriate text for you to listen to the audio file(s). Each time you click on the text, the following actions take place. You will see a page entitled "File Download" and you should click on the box that contains the word "Open" on it. A graphic will appear that looks like the face of a tape/C.D. player with the top of the face indicating it is Clip1.wav, Clip2.wav, or Clip3.wav. Click on the largest that you see on the face, which will initiate the player to play forward. Please do not use the mouse or keyboard while the audio is occurring as this could make the graphic temporarily disappear. Listen to each clip as required. Each one lasts approximately one minute. When you are finished, click on the "X" at the upper right part of the graphic in order to close the item and return to the web page. One last topic for you to notice is the observation form that is referenced on page five. This is a form that the teacher that is going to be observed will complete and then give to the peer coach to use while observing the teacher. This form can actually take many forms. It can be customized by the teacher to include whatever the teacher would like to have for focus items. This form gives you an idea of what it could be like. When you complete the tutorial you might look at the rest of the website. There is a page about me if you are interested. I have included a bibliography page as well. |
