Reciprocal Teaching

The new reciprocal teaching strategy was to have the teacher integrate a mini-lesson, follow that  with a reciprocal learning activity, and then do a closure activity. Remember the reciprocal activity involves students where one student is the teacher and guides the group through an activity.  The students then switch roles and another student is the teacher. This procedure had positive outcomes on the students and the amount of retention they had. Findings from this study indicated, "more procedural changes occurred during peer coaching than in the initial independent stage", (Kohler & Crilley, 1997, p.13).
