Research

What does research indicate about the Peer Coaching model?  Research shows that utilizing Peer Coaching in new concepts of instruction and/or watching other subject matter experts yields a positive attitude for the teacher.  A subject matter expert is considered one that possesses more knowledge about a particular subject than the regular public.  Research also indicates that coached teachers use the new approaches more skillfully, more appropriately, more frequently, and have a greater long-term retention of information than do trained but uncoached teachers (Baker and Showers, 1984.)
